Principal's Message

Greetings Munn Families,

I find myself super grateful for the opportunity to have seen so many of you this week.  I truly enjoyed seeing so many of our students, families and staff!!  If you were not able to get to Munn this week to retrieve your child’s personal belongings, please contact our main office at 349-5501 to coordinate a convenient day and time.

At this week’s meeting, the Board of Education adopted a revised calendar for the current school year, and your child’s last day of instruction will be Thursday, June 18.

I want to remind everyone about a note that our Superintendent Mr. Milgate included in his update last Friday that offers all families in New York State the opportunity to voice your thoughts and concerns about school reopening.  Please see below:

--------------------------------------------------------
Regarding reopening schools in the fall, New York State wants to engage families in a virtual conversation on this topic and ensure all voices are heard.
What is it? Much like a thought exchange, participants will be able to read and rate other participants' responses, and based on those ratings, the most important thoughts will rise to the top. All contributions are anonymous, and the deadline to submit is today, Friday, May 29.

This is a statewide exchange facilitated by the 37 New York BOCES (Boards of Cooperative Educational Services), including our own Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES. The exchange results will be shared with our elected officials so that they will have a more global understanding of the thoughts and ideas our community members have about returning to in-person schooling.

I encourage everyone to use the link below to share your thoughts and help evaluate the critical issues. If English is not your first language, there is a translation feature. Through the Exchange Link: https://my.thoughtexchange.com/333518046.

Spencerport continues to take part in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s School Closure Meal Program, which provides free meals to students during school closure.  Stop by Cosgrove, Munn or Taylor, Monday-Thursday between 11:00am and 12:30pm for grab-and-go lunch and the next day’s breakfast—completely free of charge.

In addition, families impacted financially by the COVID-19 situation may also participate in the #SpencerportTogether dinner subsidy initiative. This program offers meals at reduced prices to those who need it, while generating at least some revenue for local businesses. If you have not been financially impacted but would like to support local restaurants, please place full-price take-out orders with them directly or donate to the subsidy program using this link. To participate in the subsidy, please visit our webpage for more information.

Please continue to reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher with questions about the weekly calendars.  If I can be of assistance to you family in any way, please let me know.

Take good care,
Mike
