Principal's Message

Greetings Munn Families!

I hope this mid-summer note finds you all healthy, safe, happy, and enjoying time together outdoors as much as possible.  Summer affords each of us the chance to unplug, decompress and pay attention to those in front of us.  One of my personal goals this school year is to unplug more often and connect with our students and families in person.

Opening School
As you may have seen in the news, local districts including Spencerport recently wrote to Governor Cuomo requesting updated guidance for opening schools.  While districts across the state await this guidance, we will continue to work collaboratively with our committees and task forces to ensure we are ready to roll, no matter the circumstances. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and confidence. We will communicate with you once we have more information to share.  You can access the letter to Governor Cuomo here

Summer Mailing
Knowing that our school-based plans require the guidance mentioned above, we have set our summer mailing date for Friday, August 20.  This is a bit later than usual, but it will give us the best chance to ensure that we are communicating solidified plans.  Based on the number of sections at each grade level, there have been a few assignment changes for teachers.  While you await the summer mailing, visit our website to see who will be teaching your child(ren)’s grade level in the fall.

Supply Lists
You can access supply lists on our website in case you want to get a jump start on school shopping.

Volunteering
It is our hope that by the time fall comes, we are once again able to welcome volunteers from our community back into our schools.  Whether it’s supporting lunches, the library, or classrooms, we miss having visitors and the amazing support you have always offered us.  If you are interested in volunteering at Munn this fall, please be sure to contact our Director of Community Programs, Christina Bowerman, at 349-5681 or at cbowerman@spencerportschools.org  Once we know more about the fall and we are able to bring volunteers back, we will be calling you!

Once again, thank you for your patience, support, and trust as we continue preparing our school for all scenarios to ensure we are set for a phenomenal school year!

Take good care,

Mike
